Options are limited by design. At the international terminal, passengers have a cafe and an ice-cream parlor in the main hall. A restaurant also serves local dishes after security. The domestic side hosts a seafood spot famous for ceviche and a terrace above Arrivals has 5 food stands.
Shops & Lifestyle Stores
Duty-free shopping is available in the international and the domestic terminal. The main hall boasts a jewelry outlet and a confectionery store. For more luxurious purchases, visit the Mont Blanc outlet in the domestic side. You can also make a stop at the leather goods store or souvenir stores for quick last minute buys.
Lounges / Relax Spots
The Avianca VIP Lounge near gate 4 (domestic terminal) offers a 3-hour stay with a full bar and hot food for Avianca, Star Alliance, and elite-status flyers. The Heroica VIP Lounge covers both international and domestic sides on a pay-at-the-door basis for everyone else, though amenities are basic — packaged snacks, no showers, no windows in the international location.
Other Activities
There are no nap pods, dedicated rest zones, or 24-hour food counters here — this is a small airport built for a quick in-and-out, not a long layover experience.
3-hour layover (airport only): Grab a coffee or ice cream in the main hall, browse duty-free after security, and settle into whichever VIP lounge matches your airline status.
5–6 hour layover: With the Walled City only 10–20 minutes away by taxi, a quick loop through the historic center — a walk along the ramparts, a coffee in Plaza Santo Domingo — is realistic if your visa status and baggage situation allow it.
8+ hour layover: A half-day in the Walled City and Getsemaní neighborhood, including lunch and a walk to Castillo San Felipe, is doable given the airport's proximity — just build in a healthy buffer for Cartagena traffic on the return and re-clearing security.
